What is Hybrid search?Hybrid search kya hai?

🧸 Think of it likeAise samjho

Like asking both a librarian who knows exact book titles and one who understands what you mean, then combining their picks.Jaise do librarian se poochna, ek jo exact book titles jaanta hai aur ek jo aapka matlab samajhta hai, phir dono ki pasand milaana.

📘 ExplainedVistaar se

Vector search understands meaning but misses exact codes and names; keyword search (BM25) catches exact terms but misses paraphrases. Hybrid search runs both and merges the rankings, and a reranker often refines the top results. It's a common upgrade for RAG.Vector search matlab samajhta hai par exact codes aur naam miss karta hai; keyword search (BM25) exact terms pakadta hai par alag shabdon mein kahi baat miss karta hai. Hybrid search dono chalata hai aur rankings milata hai, aur reranker aksar top results ko aur behtar karta hai. RAG ke liye common upgrade hai.

💡 Real exampleAsli example

Finding both 'leave policy for new parents' and the exact form code 'HR-112'.'Naye parents ki leave policy' aur exact form code 'HR-112' dono dhoondhna.

• Semantic searchSearching by meaning rather than exact words, using embeddings.Exact shabdon ke bajaye matlab se search karna, embeddings ki madad se.
• RerankingA second step in search that re-scores the top results more accurately.Search ka doosra step jo top results ko zyaada accurately dobara score karta hai.
